THREE LOGINS YOU MUST HAVE IF YOU OWN OR PLAN TO OWN A WEBSITE!

Your website is a living breathing thing. No, really it’s not just a joke page where you slap on random words like “Trusted” and “Best Rated”. Those days are sooo far gone. Now, websites are interactive stories that tell and help people connect with your brand (vibes).

You should read this if:

– You’ve never signed into your website before

– You’re thinking about getting a website created

– You have someone managing your website

– You don’t know where your domain name is

– You pay a person (not a company) for web hosting

– You’ve never logged into your cPanel or know what it is

There are three basic logins you should have as the website owner. These are the domain registrar login, the hosting login and the platform login. Mad simple.

1. The domain name place is where you buy domain names. It’s where you bought www.jacksonbikes.com

This place allows you to add an SSL to your website (which protects your visitors and is a BIG must if you accept payments).

2. The hosting place is your website’s landlord. It’s where you pay a monthly/annual fee for space on the internet. If you have a small website – you pay for a small space. If you have a big website – you pay for a big space.

If you need help deciding plans there’s usually a basic guide on the payment page or you can chat with support.

You’ll also be given a login to your cPanel (usually emailed). The cPanel is where the files of your website are and allows you to let people remote into your website (remotely lol) and update files. That process is called FTP username & ID access.

3. The platform. This is very important. What platform is your website being built on: Joomla, Custom, WordPress, etc?

You should have an admin login that allows you to add and delete users, remove and edit pages, and destroy the website.

Don’t ever think it’s okay for you to NOT have control over your website. Even if this seems a bit overwhelming, you can rest assured knowing that you have all these logins and will be able to navigate the waters at a later date.
